Is right or wrong to monitor your staff?

What is called staff monitoring?  It means the company administrator record the staff’s activities and makes some restrictions for them to use computer. Nowadays, along with the development of science and computer technology, an increasing number of computer software has been installed in the company. The most eye-popping ones are snoop-ware such as monitoring software, remote PC software and so on.

The companies which monitor their employees by the spyware is on the ground that it can increase employee’s productivity, monitor employee’s inappropriate behavior and guard against leaking important company information. From the standpoint of company, it’s reasonable to monitor their staff by the snoop-ware. But as far as I’m concert, it is inappropriate and impaired employee’s rights.

It’s known to all that everyone has the rights to keep his or her privacy, and want to work in a comfortable work circumstance without monitoring. The employees may feel uncomfortable and have a sense of privacy invasion, if they know their PCs have been installed snoop-ware. Due to the monitoring software, they may not focus their attention on the work in this uncomfortable working circumstance. The purpose for the manager to install this snoop-ware is to improve the productivity and work efficiency. Instead of that, by using the monitoring software, the employee may feel unpleasant so as to decrease their work passion and reduce their work efficiency.

Therefore, improving the work efficiency demands a good work condition. Besides that, if employer and employee can maintain a harmonious relationship, accordingly the company will develop fast. But obviously the snoop-ware can’t contribute to the relationship between employer and employee. In the company, in order to make the staff have the awareness of their position, as a master you must believe in your staff. Only in this way can the employee work efficiently and self-consciously at working-time. For my part, it’s not appropriate to monitor the staff and it’s also not a good way for the manager to increase work efficiency.
